Design Award BRUNO

Applications may be submitted for works created by companies registered in the Republic of Estonia and/or by authors who have permanent residence and valid residence and work permits in Estonia.

The jury evaluates the product based on explanatory photos and a video. An international jury will select, via online review, the works that advance to the second round and will be exhibited at the BRUNO Product Design Award exhibition during the Design Night Festival at Põhjala.

Participation in the BRUNO Product Design Award competition is subject to a fee (per application):

€45 and €20 for EAD members

Applications close on 17 August 2026 at 23:59. All submitted works will be published online on 18 August 2026. The works selected for the second round will be announced on 14 September 2026. Nominees and winners will be announced and awarded on 2 October 2026 at Põhjala during the Estonian Design Awards Gala.

Jury is international.

Head of the jury: Luke Pearson (UK). Other jury members: Isabelle Verilhac (FR),Terry McStea (UK), Jaume Domenech (DE), Margot Vaaderpass (EST).

The jury begins its work on 18 August and completes the evaluation on 14 September. All works advancing to the second round will be exhibited at the XXI Design Night BRUNO’26 exhibition at Põhjala. The final list of second‑round entries will be published on 15 September. These works must be delivered to Põhjala between 25–27 September 2026.


BRUNO Product Design Award Categories

● Best Product Design for Living Environments Includes home and public furniture and objects (incl. outdoor furniture), lighting, interior elements: textiles (rugs, runners, throws, etc.); tableware (ceramics, glass); kitchenware, bathtubs, and more.

● Best Lifestyle Product Design Includes wearable products: fashion design; fashion accessories (shoes, bags, belts, scarves, hats, gloves); jewellery; watches; eyewear; travel, sports and hobby equipment.

● Best Engineering Product Design Includes vehicles, bicycles and mobility devices; tools; medical devices; sanitary products; appliances; phones, computers and other technology‑based products.

The prize fund for the four categories is €12 000 (net):

The BRUNO trophy and €3000 cash prize is awarded to the author or author group in each category. Additionally, a separate Lifetime Achievement Award is presented. Each category may also include Special Mentions.

Technical Requirements

Explanatory text: approx. 150 words total in Estonian and English / approx. 1000 characters including spaces. A longer explanation may be added as a separate link if needed.

Photos: At least one image must be in print resolution: 300 dpi; the others can be web‑resolution at 100 dpi, total file size not exceeding 7 MB.

Video: To help the jury understand the product’s use without seeing it physically, submitting a product video is recommended.
