Estonian designers at NYCXDesign ´25 24.04.2025
Estonian designers will participate in the New York Design Week from May 15th to 21st, 2025 as part of the EAD internationalization project in the USA. The New York Design Week NYCXDESIGN will showcase Estonian and Ukrainian design in SoHo from May 15th to 21st, 2025. The exhibition will present environmentally friendly designs from Estonia and stylish jewelry from Ukraine. Additionally, the international circulation project 'Second Chance' will demonstrate how old items can be given a new life, such as creating jewelry from broken car glass, brooches from Soviet enamel pots, or earrings from eggshells.
On May 16th, there will be a grand opening with a fashion show curated by Reet Aus. Local DJs, renowned photographer Mauricio Zelaya, and 10 local models will also be part of the event. Twenty Estonian designers will be represented, with some personally attending from Estonia. More information about the event is available upon request.
The exhibition of Estonian design and showcases of Reet Aus' textiles and Eva-Karlotta Tatar's leather goods will also take place on May 17th, 2025 at Scandinavia House. The collaboration with Scandinavia House originated during the Baltic Film Festival in the fall, which included a workshop and a small exhibition during the festival. This collaboration has led to new connections with Scandinavian designers actively working in New York.
A year-long collaboration with Canvas showroom has provided an opportunity to introduce the work of over 20 Estonian designers at the World Trade Center and Oculus. This collaboration has evolved into a form of fashion diplomacy, resulting in a promotional video for Estonia involving the representation of Estonia's president and first lady.
